Experimentation and Stool

The foundry project came after collaborating with a sculpture, Miguel Silva, where we used damaged parts from cars to repurpose the aluminium contained within the pieces. Afterwards I decide to attempt a technique, based on Studio Droog’s works, to convert foam into an aluminium body.

After this first stage, I continued exploring the technique and began focusing on production some sort of structure.  I kept using foam, specifically styrofoam, to create the surface of the piece. I found a foundry in Torres Vedras (Portugal) that worked with me to materialize the rendering above. After a couple of tries this was the final result:
